Update from April 12, 2024:
We have moved to Charleston, WV from Las Vegas, NV as of October 2022 and opened in our new location as of July 2023 right in time for the 2023 Scouts BSA National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve close to the World Scouting Museum. We have hired a new Museum Curator Alex Bennett and started as an Americorps Volunteer site through the Preservation Alliance of WV which has added an Americorps Volunteer to our ranks. Dalton Carney has been the first candidate chosen and has excelled in helping us successfully navigate the tedious tasks of moving such a large museum to a new location across the country. The Museum has opened the very first Robert Lynn Horne Merit Badge College (RLHMBC) @ the World Scouting Museum to great success and will be holding more moving forward,
Update from February 20, 2024:
The West Virginia Legislature’s annual History Day at the West Virginia State Capitol Rotunda was held and the World Scouting Museum made its very first appearance as a part of this day filled with history, community, and lobbying. The World Scouting Museum was recognized by the West Virginia State Senate via their passing of West Virginia Senate Resolution 49 You can read the text of Senate Resolution 2024 below from our Scribd account, this is where we place long-form stories for our site so they can be added for research purposes. You can also check out the WV Senate Resolution 49 Text Here on the West Virginia Legislature’s Website!

Update from March 29, 2019:
Every once in a while, someone will find a “charm” in a jewelry box that has a scout emblem on a swastika. The first response is often alarm because they think scouts supported the Nazis in some way. Of course, the answer is no but Swastikas in Scouting is an interesting subject and the museum has a history page that talks about the swastika and more.
Both International postcards and Scout Camp postcards are being added all the time. Some are very old, some are not so old. You’ll enjoy seeing early scenes, scout portraits, and more. Stop in at postcards (postcards are part of Exhibits) to see scouting history.
If you can identify a Scout camp, let us know and the postcard will be updated to reflect the name of the camp. If you have any other questions about scout memorabilia, please contact Alex Bennett (wsmwvcurator@gmail.com), the Museum Curator.
